Terroir
The soils of Château La Prade have an interesting heritage, having their origin in the shells of small marine invertebrates, known as ‘astéries’ in French. Half of the vineyard area is situated on this limestone plateau with quality clays, enriched with iron. These soils are not very deep and the rock itself breaks through in some places.

The other half of the vineyard is on slopes with a southerly aspect and the soils, rich in black mica and ‘glauconie’ provide a high proportion of iron and good potentiel quality.

This diversity of parcels gives the château a singularity among the terroirs of the Côtes de Francs.
